AI Crawler Access Checks
Run crawlability checks to understand whether your robots.txt rules allow or block AI and search-related crawlers.
NeuraCite can check whether important AI crawlers appear to be allowed or blocked by a website’s robots.txt file. This feature helps teams understand whether their published crawl rules may be limiting access for AI and search-related bots.
The crawlability check reviews rules for crawlers such as GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, OAI-SearchBot, Google-Extended, GoogleOther, Google-CloudVertexBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Bingbot, and BingPreview.
This feature is useful for technical SEO teams, AI visibility teams, agencies, and ecommerce brands that want to know whether important crawlers can access their website. It can also help identify accidental blocks caused by strict robots.txt rules.
Before You Start
Before running a crawlability check, you need a product or website URL already analyzed in NeuraCite. The website’s robots.txt file must also be publicly accessible so NeuraCite can read and interpret the rules.
Running A Crawlability Check
To run a crawlability check, open NeuraCite and go to Crawler Insights or the crawlability area. Select a tracked product or URL and run the check. NeuraCite will review the site’s robots.txt file and show whether important bots appear to be open, blocked, partially blocked, or unknown.
Using The Results
If an important AI crawler appears to be blocked, review the robots.txt rule responsible for the block. Then decide whether your website policy should allow or restrict that crawler.
If you decide to allow the crawler, update your robots.txt file and run the crawlability check again. This helps confirm whether the new rules are being detected correctly.
A robots.txt check does not guarantee that every AI platform will crawl, rank, or cite your website. It only shows whether your published crawl rules appear to allow or restrict those crawlers.
