GA4 Integration
NeuraCite connects with Google Analytics 4 to help businesses understand how much traffic is coming from AI platforms and answer engines. This integration is useful for teams that want to monitor whether platforms such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Poe, You.com, DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok, Meta AI, and other AI tools are sending users to their website.
Once GA4 is connected, NeuraCite can display AI referral traffic in a structured report. The report may include sessions, active users, engaged sessions, page views, events, conversions where available, referral source, referral medium, and the detected AI platform.
This helps teams move beyond traditional search analytics and begin measuring how AI-driven discovery affects website traffic. It can also help businesses understand whether their AI visibility work is creating measurable visits from answer engines and AI assistants.
Before You Start
Before connecting Google Analytics 4, make sure you have access to the Google Analytics account and the GA4 property you want to report on. You must also have permission to approve read-only Google Analytics access. At least one website should already be added inside NeuraCite so the GA4 property can be connected to the right site.
Connecting Google Analytics
To connect Google Analytics, open NeuraCite and go to the GA4 AI Referrals section. Click Connect Google Analytics and sign in using the Google account that has access to the GA4 property you want to use.
Google will ask you to approve read-only analytics access. After approval, return to NeuraCite. The connection allows NeuraCite to read analytics data for reporting purposes, but it does not give NeuraCite access to unrelated Google services.
Selecting A GA4 Property
After Google Analytics is connected, use the GA4 property selector to choose the property linked to the website you want to monitor. Select the correct property and save your choice.
Choosing the correct property is important because the AI referral report depends on the analytics data available inside that specific GA4 property. If you manage multiple websites or client accounts, make sure the selected property matches the website being tracked in NeuraCite.
Running An AI Referral Report
To run an AI referral report, open the GA4 AI Referrals area, select a start date and end date, and run the report. NeuraCite will review the available analytics data and show a summary of AI-related referral traffic.
The report is designed to help you identify which AI platforms are sending traffic, how users are engaging with the site, and whether meaningful events or conversions are being recorded. If the report is empty, try using a wider date range, as there may not have been AI referral traffic during the selected period.
Common GA4 Issues
If no GA4 properties appear after connecting, the Google account used may not have access to any GA4 properties. Sign in with an account that has permission for the property you want to monitor.
If the report is empty, there may be no AI referral traffic in the selected date range. Try expanding the report window. If conversions are missing, the GA4 property may not expose conversion metrics in the same way. NeuraCite will still show the rest of the available traffic data. If the Google Analytics connection expires, reconnect it from the GA4 AI Referrals page.
