Product & UX Design Intern

About NeuraCite
NeuraCite is a UK-based startup building the visibility layer for the AI-first internet.
As platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews reshape how people discover products, services, and brands, businesses need new ways to understand and improve their visibility in AI-generated answers.
NeuraCite helps organisations monitor, analyse, and improve how they are represented across AI search and discovery platforms. Our platform measures brand visibility, citation frequency, and positioning, helping businesses understand how AI perceives them and what actions they can take to improve their presence.

We’re an early-stage AI startup working with beta users, validating the market, and preparing to scale.

About the Role
We’re looking for a Product Design Intern (UI/UX) to help shape the user experience of NeuraCite.
AI visibility is a new category, which means there are very few established patterns for how users should discover insights, understand recommendations, and take action. You’ll help design experiences that make complex information intuitive, accessible, and useful.
You’ll work directly with the founders, product team, and engineers to turn customer feedback, product ideas, and technical capabilities into user experiences people genuinely enjoy using.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems, simplifying complexity, and designing products that create real value.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the design of core product surfaces: dashboards, onboarding, reporting, workflow tools, and alerts
  • Design for clarity and speed: our users are time-poor marketers and SEO leads who need to act on data fast
  • Work in tight collaboration with engineers, just close pairing from idea through to shipped product
  • Identify and fix quality issues across the product: flows that are confusing, interactions that feel off, screens that don't earn their complexity
  • Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and user flows
  • Help transform complex AI visibility data into clear, actionable experiences
  • Identify and improve areas of friction across the product, from confusing workflows to unnecessary complexity
  • Work closely with founders and engineers from idea through implementation
  • Review existing screens and recommend improvements for usability, consistency, and visual quality
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and analyse customer feedback where needed
  • Use AI tools and modern design workflows to accelerate research, ideation, prototyping, and design execution
  • Pay attention to the details that elevate user experiences, including interactions, transitions, micro-interactions, and product polish
  • Help define design patterns for a completely new category where there are few established best practices

Who You Are
  • You care deeply about user experience and enjoy making complex products feel simple.
  • You’re curious, thoughtful, and excited by the challenge of designing products in emerging technology categories where there are no obvious playbooks.
  • You don’t just focus on how things look, you care about how they work.
  • You enjoy asking questions, understanding user behaviour, and creating experiences that solve real problems.

What We’re Looking For
  • Strong interest in product design, UI/UX, and digital products
  • Experience with Figma or similar design tools
  • Understanding of user-centred design principles
  • Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Good eye for layout, hierarchy, usability, and visual design
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to iterate based on feedback
  • Ability to think through user journeys and product workflows
  • Seed stage startup experience is highly valued, you know what it means to build foundational processes with no playbook
  • Problem-first thinker: you design from user and business needs, not from what looks good in isolation
  • Contribute to product strategy: you should have opinions on what to build, not just how to present it
  • You care deeply about craft, the difference between a good product and a great one lives in the micro-interactions, animations, and transitions that most people never consciously notice.
  • AI-native approach to your tools and workflows, you're already experimenting and integrating AI into how you design
  • Strong business acumen: you engage with the why behind features.
  • Clear communicator: written, verbal, and visual

Strong Signals
  • Experience designing for dashboards, analytics, or data visualisation products
  • Exposure to SEO, content marketing, or AI search tools
  • Experience building or maintaining a design system from scratch
  • Portfolio that shows research artefacts alongside final UI: not just pretty screens
  • Evidence of working in early-stage environments where process didn't exist before you built it

What You’ll Gain
  • Direct mentorship from startup founders
  • Hands-on experience designing a real product used by customers
  • Exposure to product development in an AI startup
  • Ownership from day one
  • Opportunity to influence product direction and user experience
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Potential extension and future opportunities as the company grows

Details
  • Location: Remote / Hybrid / UK-based
  • Duration: 3 months (extendable)
  • Type: Internship
  • Compensation: Currently unpaid
